Dr. Musa Takes the Lead as NuHope Announces new PREOPTM Assessment Program.
July 9, 2020, SAN ANTONIO, TX – The NuHope team is pleased to announce its PREOPTM Assessment Program under the guidance of Dr. Hussein Musa. Dr. Musa has been serving as one of NuHope’s Medical Providers and assumes the new position as Medical Director, taking on this additional leadership role as he helps the team launch the newly implemented PREOPTM
The PREOPTM Assessment Program was designed by NuHope’s team to help patients achieve better surgical outcomes. The assessment is performed prior to surgery and provides referring surgeons with the details needed to improve their patients’ physical and emotional health, and to ensure the optimal surgical outcome.
“In many ways, the PREOPTM assessment is like a regular visit with your primary care physician. We evaluate patients on factors that were, in the past, not tested prior to surgery,” said Dr. Musa. “We have evidence from key medical journals that show better surgical outcomes for patients participating in physical, mental, and medication optimized programs before and after surgery,” he continued.
“I was able to quickly glean that NuHope’s model would be helpful to an even larger patient population, specifically those with predispositions that could start a cascade of events that make them more dependent on pain medication. Our PREOPTM program is designed to prevent that from happening. I’m proud that we are committed to treating so many different aspects of pain medicine.”
“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Musa take the lead on NuHope’s new offering,” said NuHope CEO Jeff Dunkel. “His continued commitment to his patients and his deeply qualified background make him the perfect choice to lead the implementation of the PREOPTM Assessment Program.” Dr. Musa is triple-board-certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. He has as a strong desire to help patients suffering from chronic pain and addiction. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Columbia University Medical Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He then completed his Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
